You've undoubtedly heard of the goose who laid the golden egg ... but have you heard about the Golden Retriever who, um, "poo-ed" a cool $500?
A Helena, Montana resident recently received a check for $500.00 from the U.S. Treasury, reimbursement for five mutilated $100.00 bills he had forwarded the agency. Seems "Sundance," a Golden Retriever with the appetite of a goat, snatched and the snacked on the bills when left unattended in the owner's car.
In the days that followed, the owner followed Sundance as he did his canine "doodies." Once the pieces were collected and assembled into a makeshift jigsaw puzzle, they were returned to the U.S. Treasury as mutilated currency.
One year later, the owner received a check for $500.00, replacing the mutilated currency Sundance had nearly destroyed! Whether the check can be negotiated during the government shutdown remains to be seen, but it says a lot about the value one American places on a dollar ...
